Vandal-resistant doors : Guaranteeing the safety of lifts

To protect lifts located in areas frequented by an unsupervised public, we have designed a range of vandal-resistant doors. These doors are designed to withstand malicious behaviour and, more generally, intensive use by users.

But what are their special features ?

Standard NF EN 81-71

Vandal-resistant doors are subject to the NF EN 81-71 standard  which aims to improve the safety and durability of lifts by making them resistant to acts of vandalism, with specific requirements for lift doors depending on the risk level associated with their installation environment.

This standard defines two categories of vandal resistance for lifts :

  • Category 1 : This concerns lifts installed in areas where the risk of vandalism is present but moderate. The requirements for this category include standard protection measures to resist common acts of vandalism.
  • Category 2 : This applies to lifts located in high-risk vandalism environments. The requirements for this category are stricter and include enhanced protection measures to resist more severe acts of vandalism.

Lift doors certified to NF EN 81-71 category 2 offer full compliance with this certification, ensuring increased resistance to vandalism..

Their specific features

Designed to enhance the safety and durability of lifts, vandal-resistant doors meet the specifications of standard NF EN 81-71.

High resistance to shocks and impacts

  • Reinforced materials (robust metal panels).
  • Ability to absorb and resist heavy blows (feet, heavy objects).
  • Paneling of the door panels.

Protection against damage

  • Secure locking systems to prevent break-ins.

Reliability and durability

  • Robust closing mechanisms to prevent jamming.
  • Reinforced guide systems to limit wear.

Compliance with standard requirements

  • Category 1 : Protection against moderate damage.
  • Category 2 : Reinforced resistance for high-risk environments.
